This is an original plein air study. I chose the view of the
Fairbanks lake facing the clubhouse and gazebo. Many weddings take place
here. I sponsored a wedding for an equestrian Olympic rider who decided to
ride in horses during the ceremony. Many of us were horsewomen and there
was a buzz of ideas of who would catch the horses who were skittish of the
wedding gown blowing fiercely in the wind, as they might unseat the bride and
groom as they rode down to the water's edge. Thankfully they all made it through
without incident. This painting is of a more peaceful moment that might
have inspired the wedding in the first place. |
